Big and Rich Whites to go with your food

Chardonnay is the most versatile of grapes, usually synonymous with the massively oaked Australian examples but, the truth of the matter is, it can be grown in any climate around the world leading to a massive range of flavours. White burgundy and chablis are the true white wine lover’s idols using subtle flavours that just dance with all types of food.

Leaving chardonnay behind, other rich, creamy wines to match your food are the Rhone varietals of viognier, marsanne, roussiane and white grenache.

Finally, there are wines that fall into this category that shouldn’t – check out the barrel fermented chenins or amazing white riojas.
